After 2 years of zero international travel, Jimi and I decided it was time to take a few days off and rejoin our pre-covid travel life. I needed my toes in the sand, a tropical drink in my hand and sunshine on my face! Living in the Pacific Northwest we see too many gray, rainy, cold days.
Jimi wrapped up his CSM Workshop last weekend and we rushed to the airport for a late Sunday Night flight. With just two small backpacks, our Passports, required Belizean Travel Insurance, Covid Vaccination Cards, and a guitar we were off.
We landed in Belize City mid-day Monday. In my opinion, there is nothing better than walking out the plane door to sun, heat and humidity. After a quick customs and immigration process we were on our 30 minute Maya Airlines flight to Placencia.
Placencia is a place we have visiting many times. It holds a special place in both of our hearts for many reasons. It is laid back, relaxing, warm, affordable and the people there are the BEST. They are so welcoming and genuinely happy to see you. It’s a vibe like no other… and we have been many, many places around the world.
This trip had two goals:
#1 - Get a few days away from Fearless and the teenagers to recharge in the sun.
#2 - Visit an island 18 miles off the coast of Belize. The place Jimi and I will finally say vows to each other with our closest friends and family next year. (We figured after 10 years together it will be the perfect time)
It was a quick trip but here are a few highlights…
